This word became international and also exists in the moden English, you can see it Wikipedia

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subbotnik

Subbotnik means non-paid working day during Satuday (Subbota in Russian).
Main subbotnik during the Soviet Era was dedicated to the birthday of Lenin (one of the Saturday at the end of April).
It was also very well known, that Lenin personally participated into one of the Subbotnik in 1920 and that he carried the huge log together with ordinar workers.

Sure, those particullary Subbotnik was not dedicated to birthday of Lenin because Lenin was still alive at that time and his cult appeared only after his death. And also the huge log was real, not inflatable. That's just a joke.

Thanks, I learnt something new... very interesting. (I think the joke might have been funnier with this background information first)
